What has to be on a donation receipt?
Broadly: your organisation's name and address, its registration number, the donor's name, the date, the amount, and a statement about what the donor received in return — because in most jurisdictions the deductible part is the donation minus the value of anything given back. Requirements differ by country and are strict in several of them, so check your own regulator's wording. This is not tax advice.
Where do I put my charity registration number and the tax wording?
There is a 'Charity registration and tax wording' field, and it prints as its own block on the document. Paste in exactly the sentence your regulator requires — this tool deliberately does not invent that wording for you, because getting it wrong is worse than leaving it out.
Why does the stamp say RECEIVED rather than PAID?
Because a donation was not a payment for anything. Small wording difference, but a receipt that says PAID implies a transaction with goods or services on the other side, which is precisely the distinction that matters for deductibility.
Can I receipt gifts in kind rather than money?
You can list them as line items with the value you have determined. Be aware that valuing a non-cash gift is the part regulators care most about, and several require an independent appraisal above a threshold. Check your rules before issuing.
Why is this one a full page when the other receipts are not?
Because it gets filed with a tax return. The registration number and the deductibility wording both need room to sit on the page rather than be squeezed onto a slip.
Do I have to make an account?
No. Nothing here asks you to sign up, and the tool works fully signed out.
Is my donor's information sent anywhere?
No. The receipt is built inside your browser on your own device, and the PDF is created there too. Nothing you type is uploaded to us, because there is nothing on our side to receive it. That matters more than usual here — a donor list is exactly the sort of thing that should not pass through a stranger's server.
