Questions people ask

What is the difference between a receipt and an invoice?
An invoice asks for money; a receipt confirms it arrived. They often list the same lines and the same total, but a receipt is proof of payment and carries the date the money was actually received. This tool prints 'Paid in full' under the total so nobody mistakes one for the other and pays twice.
Do I have to make an account?
No. Nothing here asks you to sign up, and the tool works fully signed out.
Can I make a receipt from an invoice I already sent?
Yes. Your business details, logo, saved clients and saved rates are shared across every tool on Bindery, so the client and the lines are one tap away rather than retyped.
Is my customer's information sent anywhere?
No. The receipt is built inside your browser on your own device, and the PDF is created there too. Nothing you type is uploaded to us, because there is nothing on our side to receive it. Open your browser's Network tab while you fill the form and you will see no request carrying your data.
Do the ads on this page see my receipt?
No, and not because we promise it — because they cannot. Every ad on Bindery is served from a separate website address inside a sealed frame, and your browser will not let anything in that frame read the page around it. That is enforced by the browser, not by our restraint.
Is this valid as a proof of payment for tax?
A receipt is a commercial document rather than a regulated form, so in most places what matters is that it shows who paid, who was paid, what for, how much, the tax charged, and when. There are fields for all of it, including your tax registration number. What your own authority requires is worth a five-minute check — this is not tax advice.
Does it handle sales tax, GST, VAT or HST?
Yes. Name the tax whatever your country calls it and set the rate; it is applied to the subtotal and shown as its own line, so the customer can see the tax they paid.
