Questions people ask
- How is this different from the invoice generator?
- It is the same document set up for hourly work. The quantity column is headed Hours rather than Qty, the date column starts switched on, and there is a field for the period the hours fall in, which prints at the top. If you bill fixed fees, use the ordinary invoice generator — it is the same engine without the hourly wording.
- Can I use fractions of an hour?
- Yes. Type 6.5, 2.25, 0.75 — anything the arithmetic can take. Each line is multiplied by your rate and rounded once at the currency's precision, so the lines on the page always add up to the total on the page.
- Can I bill different rates on different lines?
- Yes. The rate lives on the line, not on the document, so a day at your standard rate and an evening at an overtime rate are simply two lines with two rates. If you charge one client a single rate all the time, the tool remembers it after the first invoice.
- What should the period say?
- Whatever the client approves against — '1 to 15 August 2026', 'Week 32', 'August'. It is free text because billing periods are not standard, and it is the first thing anyone checks before they look at the hours.
- Does it total the hours as well as the money?
- Not as a separate figure. The hours sit on each line beside the work they were spent on, which is what a client queries. If a single total of hours matters to your client, put it in the notes — that field prints under the terms.
- Can I attach my actual timesheet?
- There is nothing to attach to — this makes one PDF. In practice the dated lines are the timesheet: one line per session, with what you did on it. That is more useful to the person approving it than a spreadsheet in a second file.
- Do I have to make an account?
- No. Nothing here asks you to sign up, and the tool works fully signed out.
- Is anything I type sent anywhere?
- No. The invoice is built inside your browser on your own device, and the PDF is created there too. Nothing you type is uploaded to us, because there is nothing on our side to receive it.
